Minding Your Mind

Thursday's assembly was a wonderful experience. While talking about issues like mental health and depression can be upsetting to some people, it is extremely important to always push for these topics to be talked about in the open. Having a problem with your state of mind is never something to be ashamed of. Francesca herself seemed to be a very sweet and caring person, and an ideal speaker on behalf of the "Minding Your Mind" team. I hope that the school will continue to invite this group back to our premises for years to come!

Prendie 8: Minding Your Mind

         The class presentation that was given called "Minding Your Mind" I believe was very helpful to a lot of the students. I am happy that Francesca came and took the time to talk to us. I learned that any mental health illness can get better and that there will always be someone there who is willing to help you. I got to see how much of an impact a mental health illness can have on a persons life. Not only does it affect yourself but the others around you. I would have never guessed Francesca suffered from anxiety or depression. From what she was saying about being really involved with her school and having very good grades I would have never guessed that she had been through those troubles all throughout her years. I liked at the end when Francesca described the old creepy counselor her parents assigned for her to go to. She made a good point by saying even though he didn't help her she kept meeting with new couselor's and finally found one that she could click with and trust. I do agree that any mental health illness is treatable you just have to talk and make an effort. Francesca is definitely a role model and is very courageous for sharing her story.
