  1. The presentation on mental health, "Minding Your Mind" was interesting and helpful. The speaker, Francesca, was very sociable and explained her encounters with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I learned that regardless of the type of mental illness a person faces, all mental illnesses are treatable as long as the person suffering seeks help. And, if that person does not seek help, friends and family should be caring and brave to seek help for them. It was inspirational to hear that Francesca overcame her depressions and continues to take care of herself even though she still suffers from anxiety, and it is inspirational that she survived and talks to younger generation groups to prevent people from harming themselves, too. I believe that every person who suffers from depression or another mental illness deserves the help and strength to overcome it. I agree that if a friend notices that a person seems depressed or that something is wrong, the friend or should help that person by telling someone- a family member of the person or a counselor- to keep the person from being harmed or from harming themselves.

  2. Francesca, who suffered from anxiety, depression, and PTSD, was the speaker for this year's Minding Your Mind assembly. She shared the story of her struggle with the illnesses, and emphasized that mental illnesses are nothing to be embarrassed about. Because I have Law & Psych this year, I understood the Psychological aspect of mental illness, and therefore found myself very interested in what was said. I was surprised by some of the celebrities who have mental illnesses, and the fact that 1 in 4 are diagnosed with one. A video at the end, of people's secrets, was my favorite because it showed that we are not alone. I also like how she expressed the importance of looking out for others and telling someone if we are concerned.

  3. The class presentation that was given called "Minding Your Mind" I believe was very helpful to a lot of the students. I am happy that Francesca came and took the time to talk to us. I learned that any mental health illness can get better and that there will always be someone there who is willing to help you. I got to see how much of an impact a mental health illness can have on a persons life. Not only does it affect yourself but the others around you. I would have never guessed Francesca suffered from anxiety or depression. From what she was saying about being really involved with her school and having very good grades I would have never guessed that she had been through those troubles all throughout her years. I liked at the end when Francesca described the old creepy counselor her parents assigned for her to go to. She made a good point by saying even though he didn't help her she kept meeting with new couselor's and finally found one that she could click with and trust. I do agree that any mental health illness is treatable you just have to talk and make an effort. Francesca is definitley a role model and is very courageous for sharing her story.

  4. The presentation, "Minding Your Mind" embodied the idea that ANYONE including celebrities can suffer from mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar like characteristics. It was truly a shock to see that someone who has such a bubbly personality suffer from these illnesses. Francesca was and is so brave to share her story with us. It's funny because I wouldn't have known that she had anxiety and depression if she had not said she did. This proves that a lot of the time what people go through is only shone behind closed doors and that they put on a face every time they are around the ones they care about. The good thing is, is that mental illnesses are treatable and can partially if not completely eliminate emotional, physical, and mental pain.

  5. The organization "Minding Your Mind" shows students that you should not be ashamed if you feel that you are different. Other people are out there that are suffering from the same problems that you may have. Francesca showed us that everyone suffers at one point in their lives from something, but how we handle that problem can determine what we may turn out to be. She showed us that there are celebrities that seem perfect on the outside, but really are on an internal struggle to stay afloat. It was nice to see that someone who was once on a downward slope change there life around to show students that you can do anything that you set your mind to.

  6. The "Minding Your Mind" Organization and the presentation that Francesca gave to us on Wednesday was very informative and helpful. Francesca was an excellent speaker that really helped to describe the effects of anxiety, depression, and PTSD on a person's life. She suffered from all three of these disorders, but used her own experiences in life to provide an inspirational talk showing that anyone can overcome mental illness and its' impact on their lives can be improved. Francesca really taught me that there is always help for any situation and we can get through everything in life, as long as we are willing to put in the effort. I loved Francesca's presentation because I know that there are probably a lot of peoiple that are taking Francesca's message to heart and now getting help. I agree that there will always be someone here to help us, whether it be for something minor or something major like a mental illness.

  7. The presentation given, "Minding Your Mind", was insightful and helpful. Francesca, this year's speaker, shared her history with mental illness. She told us about her experience with anxiety, depression, and PTSD and proved through her story that overcoming the obstacles of mental illness is possible. I learned that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and no one is alone in it. So many people suffer from forms of mental illness and by seeking help it can be treated. I liked that Francesca was honest and up front with us about her search for the right psychiatrist and her anxiety. I agree that telling an adult when you're worried about a friend is the right thing to do, whether or not you think they will be mad. Francesca was inspirational and I think that she is truly someone to look up to.

  8. The "Minding Your Mind" presentation was very informative and helped me to learn a lot of things I never knew before about mental illnesses. Francesca was an awesome speaker and I felt as though she was good at what she does. She shared her story about her mental illnesses with us and how she was strong enough to over come them. I know a few people who are considered to have mental illnesses and I learned ways to help them cope with their problems. Anyone who has a mental illness is never alone and Francesca helped all of us realize that. There are millions of people who suffer from mental illnesses and there are also millions of ways to deal with it. Francesca was very open with us about her mental illnesses and I liked that, she helped me to realize telling someone right away about anyone who could have a mental illness is the best thing to do. Francesca inspire me to always help others and I definitely look up to her.

  9. The "Minding Your Mind" presentation helped me to better understand the diseases that are out there and how common it is. It also helped me realize that you aren't different and weird if you have one of the mental illness, it can happen to anyone including celebrities. I also learned that all illnesses are treatable as long as a person talks to someone about it and strives to receive help. I liked that Francesca was so open to talking about her whole experience and wasn't ashamed to share any part of her story. I agree with her when she says that they are certain therapists for a certain person. No everyone connects with the same people, so if you do have a problem, don't stop receiving help because of a certain therapist. Francesca helped me to look for signs in people to help them out before anything serious starts taking place. She truly inspired me with her story.

  10. The "Minding Your Mind" presentation really taught me something this year. Unlike last year when the speaker talked only about one disease, this years speaker talked about several disorders. Not only did she speak about herself but she also showed us celeberities who suffer from mental disorders and remained succussful. She showed me that no matter how hard times may get for me theres always someone out there with a serious illness who has life ten times worse. Francesca is a living example of how important mental health is and how it is possible to receive help with the right type of people. I found her story able to reach a wide audience and truly inspirational.

  11. The presentation we had on mental health/illness was informing and also interesting. I learned even the people you don't expect to be suffering from a illness could be. Also, mental health doesn't discriminate against anyone. I liked many things about the presentation. She was very knowledgeable about the information she was conveying to the school. She shared some private details of her life which I greatly appreciated. There wasn't any in particular that I didn't like. I agreed with a lot of topics she talked about, especially when she said the illness affects everyone. Also, when you know a person that is dealing with an illness, for example, depression, it might be wise to inform their family so things don't possibly spiral out of control.

  12. During the 'Minding your mind' assembly I learned that you shouldn't hold the bad feelings that you have inside. As stated in the presentation, many teenagers have feelings about suicide and other ways of hurting themselves and how the problem can just escalade with keeping it inside. It is always better to talk to someone you know or can connect with! I liked how Francesca was courageous and strong for speaking to such a large crowd with her anxiety and depression. She is a great role model of who you should look up to if you are having bad feelings inside about yourself. I enjoyed the presentation and wish I could hear more stories from other men and women who have overcome their disease !

  13. Thursday's assembly was a wonderful experience. While talking about issues like mental health and depression can be upsetting to some people, it is extremely important to always push for these topics to be talked about in the open. Having a problem with your state of mind is never something to be ashamed of. Francesca herself seemed to be a very sweet and caring person, and an ideal speaker on behalf of the "Minding Your Mind" team. I hope that the school will continue to invite this group back to our premises for years to come!

  14. The "Minding Your Mind" assembly was a bit different from the previous years. Our speaker Francesca suffered from anxiety from her young childhood days. In her teen years she developed depression. I really liked her presentation because it demonstrated that it doesn't matter who it is, just about anyone can be affected in the worst way by these mental illnesses. She elaborated on caring about our mental illnesses, and that is a true fact because mostly we tend to just worry our physical fitness and not mental. It was really sad about the lost of her cousin, and how she blamed herself for his death. All her stories were touching and informative.

  16. The "Minding Your Mind" assembly was much more memorable this year. The speaker, Francesca, was very friendly and realistic. I learned that everyone, from celebrities to the smallest of children, can have a mental illness. I agreed with everything that Francesca had to say, especially that there is help available for everyone, no matter what the case. The presentation that Francesca made from the "Secret Cards" was a nice touch to end the assembly.

  17. The presentation, "Minding your Mind," is one I have come to thoroughly enjoy over the past few years. I always enjoy the true-life stories the young presenters tell us about because I always feel as though they are relatable to a lot of high school students. This year I really came away with the knowledge that everyone, from the richest, most beautiful celebrities to young children can be burdened with a mental illness. The person isn't "a psycho" or "psychotic" rather these people are ill and struggling with something that we may not be able to fully understand. I was also futher informed that no one is alone in mental illness, and that most people, at some point in their lives, will suffer from one of the many forms of mental illness. Though the thought of getting a mental illness is frightening, Francesca proved that a mental illness can be overcome and controlled.
Francesca's story was inspiring and I loved every second of it. Her story telling ability was strong and kept me intrigued the entire presentation. My favorite part was the secret/ananomous cards she shared with us. It's unbelievable the things you don't know about even your closest friends, and how people you have never come into contact with can be so similar to you.

  18. I thoroughly enjoyed the "Minding Your Mind" presentation that Francesca gave. I feel that she talked about several different types of mental illnesses, which i appreciated and found helpful. I agree that probably most, if not all, people have some sort of mental or emotional disable, even if it is small or unnoticeable. The presentation, and the courage and bravery that Francesca showed in telling her personal story reinforced the ideas that I already have or had about mental illnesses. For example, from a young age I learned that mental illnesses are nothing to be ashamed about, through dealing with such issues within my family, and the best way for someone to take steps in getting better is to reach out for help and admitting that you need and want help for others. Mental disabilities and/or illnesses is a topic that I feel hits home and I really appreciate and enjoyed Francesca's point of view and story about it.

  19. I found the presentation, "Minding Your Mind" to be a really inspiration story. I really like how Francesca was not afraid to share her story with everyone and I think her story can relate to many people out there. It reminds people that they are never alone. I also think it sends a really strong message that if someone has a mental illness, that does not mean that there is anything wrong with them. There is nothing to be ashamed of. I think that there is and will be an increase of mental illnesses becaues of the society that we live in and because the amount of stress that young people experience. It is nice to know that there are speakers who are there to speak out for those who do not necessarily know how to help themselves.

  20. Minding Your Mind this year was different than last year's, but our new speaker, Francesca, was just as interesting and enjoyable as last year's speaker, Melissa. I thought it was brave of Francesca to share with us such personal information. By doing so she made me realize the importance of noticing the mental health of myself and those around me. She taught that one should never be ashamed of mental disease and that it can be overcome. It is also extremely important to look out for your friends. If you think they may have a problem you must tell an adult, even if your friend protests. Once again, the Minding Your Mind assembly was informative and actually kept me awake.
